GoFundMe is an American for-profit crowdfunding platform that allows people to raise money for events ranging from life events such as celebrations and graduations to challenging circumstances like accidents and illnesses. From 2010 to 2017, over $5 billion was raised on the platform from 50 million donors.

For personal campaigns in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain, GoFundMe is a free platform.

Are there any deadlines or time limits?

No, never. With GoFundMe, there are no deadlines or time limits. Your campaign will remain live until you choose to turn off donations or remove the campaign altogether. Most organisers leave their campaigns active indefinitely to refer back to the kind comments and support that they receive.

 

What if I do not reach my goal?

No problem. Reaching your goal is not required. With GoFundMe, you keep each and every donation that you receive. Your campaign will be able to accept donations even after you’ve reached your goal. Once the goal is reached, the progress meter on your campaign will show that you have received more than your goal amount. If you would like to continue raising money, you can keep your campaign running for as long as you like."
