Hello to everyone!
I am Daniele (name sign) and I want to show you how to make an interview using good framing.
Before you start thinking about your interview, imagine your shot with the interviewee. See here (on the screen) the grid made up of horizontal and vertical lines which is called rule of thirds.
The rule of thirds is a compositional guideline for visual images.
Understanding this enables you to find the right position for your interviewee so that you have a polished visual composition.
Good. Here is an example.
You can see that this is framed incorrectly. It does not match! This means that the image is out of balance. There is hardly any space for signing. There is no line of interaction with the viewer because the interviewee is off centre. Let me show you a better example.
This is better. This is the correct framing for interviews, framed from the left or the right of the screen, there is a clear line of interaction. You can also choose to place the interviewee in the centre, like in this next example.
You can see, it is possible to choose different framing depending on the location but you need to plan well and prepare in advance to make sure you set up the video camera in the best position.
You need to make sure you find a position for the video camera that frames the interviewee well. I hope you frame your films well in the future.
Bye for now!
